Natural Resource Ecology Laboratory

How To Use The Facility

EcoCore's analytical lab space, equipment, and instruments are predominantly used by students, postdocs and scientists at Colorado State University, but the faculties are also available for use to non-CSU scientists.

We charge general lab use (sample preparation) on a per-hour basis, while instrument use is charged on a per-sample basis. Our current rates can be found here.

Users of our facilities are required to follow a lab safety training of approximately 1 hour, provided by one of our lab managers. Please sign up for this training well in advance, by contacting Rodney.Simpson@Colostate.edu. A signed PI authorization form is required before training occurs.

Users have the option to analyze their own samples and operate the instruments themselves following in-depth training by our lab management. Training on instrument operation and specialized or hazardous methods is provided at a fixed hourly rate, and depending on frequency of analysis, may need to be retaken on an annual basis. Please contact lab management to sign up for training. A signed PI authorization form is required before training occurs. A list of instruments and analyses for which training is required is provided on this form.

Alternatively, EcoCore can analyze samples for you at at a slightly higher rate. Please contact us to clarify your operational/analytical needs and inquire rates, and read carefully through the sample requirements and sample submission pages before sending us samples.

EcoCore also has an area designed for teaching, research seminars and small workshops. Please contact us for further information.
